The Infancy Narrative of James- amazing history of Mary, mother of Jesus
Naturally, we can only truly rely on God's Word in the Bible. God saw to it, to make sure it was canonized, for a reason. There are many ancient texts floating around out there. However some of these holy texts, supporting ancient texts are sometimes very useful to help us in our goal of truly understanding God's Word, will and laws- through prayer of course as well.
One such text is called the "Infancy Narrative of James" (aka- The Infancy Gospel of James) and explains the birth of Mary (Jesus' earthly mother) through a miracle to Anna and Joachim (her blessed parents). Her extremely holy childhood and her eventual appointment to Joesph- leading of course to this, which we read in chapter 11:
"(6) Upon hearing this, however, Mary was distraught, saying to herself, "If I conceive from the Lord God who lives, will I also conceive as all women conceive?"
(7) And the Angel of the Lord said, "Not like that, Mary. For the power of God will come over you. Thus, the holy one who is born will be called son of the most high. (8) And you will call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."
Pretty amazing- wonderful! Their faith in God (Mary's earthly parents) was so strong.
